The Hawley Wraparound retainer is designed for effective retention, featuring a wraparound bow that provides stability with optional .022 support wires to further stabilize the bow. This design keeps the occlusal surfaces free, preventing interference and ensuring a comfortable fit. For those seeking a more modern approach, the Tremont Cantilever is an excellent alternative to the traditional wraparound. This appliance offers stability without the need for support wires, as technicians laser weld a .036 wire to the posterior of the omega loops, stabilizing the wraparound bow. The Tremont Cantilever also allows for easy adjustments with three-prong pliers to move the anterior section of the bow either more incisal or gingival, providing excellent retention and flexibility.

Treatment & Care

Patients should wear 22 hours a day and clean daily with toothpaste to prevent the buildup of plaque and odor. Avoid Efferdent and other effervescent solutions, as it may erode components on the appliance. It is recommended to use products like DentaSoak or Retainer Splash.
