The Bionator I is designed for the correction of Class II malocclusions with a deep bite, stimulating alveolar growth and gaining space while correcting an open bite in mixed dentition cases. It features fluted grooves in the posterior section and an anterior bite plate to promote posterior eruption, increasing lower facial height. An anterior cap provides stability as the lower jaw advances into position with the upper. The Bionator II, also used for correcting Class II malocclusions but with an open bite, has an open anterior section to allow incisor growth and a posterior bite plate to prevent vertical eruption. Treatment typically begins between ages 8-11, with a recommended wear time of 21-23 hours a day.

Treatment & Care

Ideally, treatment starts should range from 8-11 years old, and recommended wear time is 21-23 hours a day. Treatment results in a change in overjet of one mm per month. You can add an optional expansion screw to stimulate the growth of the posterior teeth.

Patients should clean daily with toothpaste to prevent the buildup of plaque and odor. Avoid Efferdent and other effervescent solutions, as it may erode components on the appliance. It is recommended to use products like DentaSoak or Retainer Splash.
